Energy Efficiency

RENEWABLE ENERGY / ENERGY EFFICIENCY / CLIMATE ADAPTATION / ENERGY DATA / ADVOCACY / NETWORKING

Improving the energy efficiency of our homes, businesses and local governments is vital to create a low-carbon future.

Updates
MEFL's Nick Franco has summarised some of the current proposed changes to the VEET scheme, that are due to come into force later this year.

Watch the video or read Nick's summary paper.

The City of Darebin has completed a suite of work upgrading its aquatic centres at Northcote and Reservoir.
The work included:
  • LED lighting
  • HVAC and heat recovery
  • Pool Blankets
  • Building envelope improvements.
A full report is available and you can check out a video about the project at left.
Our Work
Hume City Council's Business Efficiency Network continues to help businesses reduce their running costs by becoming more energy efficient.

At Doncaster Hill, the City of Manningham is working with local property owners and developers, and United Energy to create Melbourne's first smart energy zone.

The City of Moreland is the first council to use a wedges approach to develop targets for its Zero Carbon Evolution strategy, which is currently being implemented.

Since 2002, NAGA has developed and implemented a broad range of projects designed to reduce carbon emissions and build capacity to achieve a low-carbon society. This includes our social norm brand, Go5, which allows households to compare their energy use with a Melbourne average and provides tips on how reduce unnecessary consumption.

Most recently, this has included Investigating Rates Mechanisms, to encourage the installation of energy efficiency technology in rental properties,  Carbon Neutral Communities, in conjunction with RMIT University.
