Climate Emergency Australia

CLIMATE EMERGENCY / ELECTRICITY / SOLAR FOR HOUSEHOLDS / ENERGY PLANNING / EMBEDDING / ADAPTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE

Following Darebin City Council declaring a climate emergency in 2016, more than 90 municipalities across Australia, representing over eight million people, as well as 1,400 local governments across the world have declared or acknowledged a climate emergency.

Darebin City Council commissioned NAGA to consult with councils across Australia with a view to setting up a mechanism to enable local government to work together on the climate emergency. NAGA worked with councils from across the country to set up Climate Emergency Australia (CEA) for a 12 month pilot period.

CEA became operational in June 2020, is hosted by the City of Melbourne, run by NAGA and funded by 13 founding funder councils.
